Gary Dunn has a varied, international career in the animation industry with credits as a director, art director, storyboard artist, and lead character animator (both 2D and 3D) in motion pictures, series television, and commercials.
Starting his career on Richard Williams’ now legendary The Thief and the Cobbler,
Gary has animated on such films as Space Jam, The Prince of Egypt, Sinbad Legend of the Seven Seas,
Gnomeo and Juliet, The Tale of Despereaux, Sherlock Gnomes and John Carter of Mars.
He was the Lead Character Designer for Gnomeo and Juliet, produced by Sir Elton John’s ROCKET PICTURES
and released by the Walt Disney Company’s Touchstone division.
He has been contracted to design characters for projects in development and production at
Sony Pictures Animation, D-Neg, Digital Domain, Paramount Animation, and Rocket Pictures.
Gary was the Lead Character Designer and character animator on SHERLOCK GNOMES,
Produced through Sir Elton John's Rocket Pictures and co-produced with Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
He was the Lead Character Designer, Character modeling supervisor, and Lead character animator on
THE FIRST SUPERHERO, Produced at EIPG, Eastern International Pictures Group, Guangzhou-Zhejiang, China.
He was Lead Character Designer/Character Art Director for a TIMELESS FILMS and AXIS STUDIOS
Co-production on a fully CG feature for NETFLIX, for release in the fall of 2022.
He was recently working on character visual development for Aardman Animation on CHICKEN RUN 2
After working as a 2D Character Animator for NONEMORE PRODUCTIONS,
on the animated adaptation of Charlie Mackesy's book. THE BOY, THE MOLE, THE FOX AND THE HORSE,
Gary is currently animating for LUPUS FILMS UK, on an animated feature adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's novel, KENSUKE'S KINGDOM
Gary lives and works in his studio in leafy Buckinghamshire UK with his wife and two sons,
a cat that moved in, (Mr. Fluffypants)..and a quartet of visiting Badgers.
